Cube Area
A cube is a three-dimensional shape with six square faces of equal size. Each face of the cube is a square whose area is S = a². The side surface of the cube consists of 4 faces, and the full surface includes two more bases in the form of the same squares. Therefore, to find the area of the side surface of the cube, we multiply the area of this square by 4. To find the area of its full surface we multiply the area of one of these squares by 6, and can be calculated using the following formula:
S = 6a^2
Where S is the area of the cube and a is the length of one side.
How to Use the Cube Area Calculator
To find the area of your cube:
- Enter the length of one side of the cube into the input box.
- The calculator will automatically calculate the area for you.
Cube Area Examples
Here are some examples of finding the area of a cube using the formula:
Example 1
Find the area of a cube with sides of length 4.
S = 6a^2
S = 6*4^2
S = 96
So the surface area of the cube is 96 square units.
Example 2
Find the area of a cube with sides of length 8.
S = 6a^2
S = 6*8^2
S = 384
So the surface area of the cube is 384 square units.
